The time I lost my breath

Cross country. Feeling pumped to try out the new course; my heart thumping as I approach the  starting  line; butterflies swirling around as the horn blows.

My feet pound on the muddy surface. Wind blowing hard on the surface of my face. Creeping  up the hill. Making my way into the bush. Running on the crippling gravel. Voices echoing behind me saying´Wait up for me´.

Rushing up and down hills. Running round the field as I make my way to the bridge. My legs trying to stay strong. As I walk across the bridge and up the hill. Seeing sunlight I started to run again.

My sister trailing behind me. As my breath trembles as I try to speak. I ran across the finish line. My legs trembles with pain. Breathing hard trying to catch my breath. My legs aching as I try to walk. One of my heels crying with pain. I slowly walk back to my mum. The audience cheering loud.
